Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation soars past $500 million worldwide, Terminator Genisys continues international success

September 7, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation has passed $500 million at the worldwide box office this weekend, becoming the fourth highest grossing film of Tom Cruise’s career and the third biggest of the franchise to date.

Paramount and Skydance are behind Rogue Nation, and have seen it climb to a total of $511.2 million. It stands around $185 million behind the previous film, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, but Rogue has yet to open in China where Protocol grossed over $100 million there and around the Middle Kingdom.

Paramount and Skydance’s other big summer blockbuster, Terminator Genisys, continues to surprise at the international box office, with its China gross now standing at an impressive $108.8 million, bringing its worldwide total over $435 million. Genisys is now the the second highest entry in the Terminator franchise and it is probably now only a matter of time until the planned sequels to the film get the green light.
