Molly Ringwald will return for season 2 of Riverdale

June 27, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Iconic 80s actress Molly Ringwald will be returning for the second season of Riverdale.

Ringwald, the star of classic teen flicks The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles, played the mother of Archie in the show’s first season, showing up in three of the episodes.

And Archie Comics has now confirmed the character’s return via a tweeted photo of Ringwald alongside KJ Apa who plays Archie, and Cole Sprouse who portrays Jughead Jones.

The first season of the show depicted characters left reeling from the tragic death of a high school pupil, which then leads to an investigation that reveals the truth behind the perfect façade of the small town of Riverdale.

Riverdale is based on the characters from Archie Comics. The 13 episode first season aired on The CW in the US and on Neflix in the UK.

The CW has recently released a synopsis for the second season (really just a recap of season one), which you can read here in full.
