More details on Jared Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad, “everyone is afraid of him”

January 26, 2015 by Luke Owen

We had some small news about The Joker’s role in Suicide Squad previously due to some early script leaks (he will take a Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs type role), and now we have some new details.

According to the good folk over at JoBlo, the idea of The Joker in the Suicide Squad is to tease previous battles with Batman before the two theoretically collide in a Batman solo movie which is said to take on the Joker section of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. The website claims that “The Joker is scarred all over his body because of his battles with Batman, he plays mind games with people and twists [their] minds, [and] everyone is afraid of him.”

In other Suicide Squad news, JoBlo also claim that Enchantress (played by Cara Delevingne) is “crazy” in a good way and is “really powerful and instrumental in the film’s prison riot finale”.

Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016 and will feature a cast that includes Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang and Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller. Jesse Eisenberg (The Double) is expected to reprise his role as Lex Luthor. You can hear the thoughts on the Flickering Myth Podcast on the cast of Suicide Squad using the player below:
