Back in January it was reported that Ben Affleck’s Batman could make an appearance in Suicide Squad to set up a future solo movie, and now El Mayimbe of Latino-Review has posted a few more rumours regarding The Dark Knight’s involvement with Warner’s upcoming DC supervillain ensemble.
The report claims that, “In the film Batman is some sort of big boogeyman that the government REALLY hates. Get this, prior to the events in Batman v Superman, The Joker is the only one to really ever meet him or know him and that’s why he’s so important to Amanda Waller. They have footage of Batman in action which they watch. There is a bit of dialogue where they say Batman is the key to tracking down all ‘the supers.’ Very cool stuff.”
Sounds plausible, and it seems to make sense that with the likes of The Joker and Harley Quinn in the movie, Suicide Squad will at least feature some kind of reference to The Dark Knight.
Suicide Squad is set for release on August 5th 2016, and features a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Will Smith (Hancock) as Deadshot, Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys) as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker and Viola Davis (How to get Away with Murder) as Amanda Waller. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jesse Eisenberg is also expected to reprise the role of Lex Luthor and Jay Hernandez (Hostel) has joined the cast in an unknown role.
