The Most Anticipated Horror Movies of 2019

March 21, 2018 by EJ Moreno

7. 3 From Hell (TBA)

Lover of all things horror, Rob Zombie is returning with another entry into his “Firefly Family” franchise. Following the events of House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, 3 From Hell will show what happened to the three antagonists after their epic police shootout. Little details about the project, not even a release date, but Zombie says to look out for it soon and expect even more depraved action than before. Who doesn’t love at little Captain Spaulding in their life!?

6. Brightburn (May 24th 2019)

This spot on my list almost went to The New Mutants, but the stellar trailer for Brightburn knocked it straight into the top ten. What feels like a horror-version of Man of Steel, Brightburn is the newest work for director David Yarovesky (The Hive) and producer James Gunn. A young boy crash lands onto a small town and begins to show a power that out-of-this-world, but instead of becoming a hero, what if he was sent here to destroy us? Yes, this is a must-see.

5. Happy Death Day 2U (February 14th 2019)

Who knew the slasher genre could still find a place in the current film landscape? Sure, audiences just had a sequel to the classic Halloween, but they relied heavily on the nostalgia. Happy Death Day and its 2019 sequel stand out as they are an original entity with a fresh take on the slasher formula. For this upcoming adventure, our lead Tree (Jessica Rothe) reenters the time loop from the first time but with a very different outcome. What does horror-powerhouse Blumhouse have in store for us with this?

4. Glass (January 18th 2019)

The upcoming Glass is a unique beast to tackle as the genre for the film is far from clear. Another Blumhouse film, Glass is a continuation of the universe built in previous M. Night Shyamalan film’s Unbreakable and Split. Starring the dynamic trio of Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and James McAvoy, all bets are off with this movie. While it seems to be about the titular Glass teaming up with The Beast to face off against David Dunn, Shyamalan must have something up his sleeve for this piece.
