NBC has snapped up The Ark, a high-concept drama from screenwriter Daniel Kunka (12 Rounds), which is being produced by Robert Zemeckis’ ImageMovers and 20th Century Fox TV and is described as a “grounded, modern retelling” of the Noah’s Ark story.
The Ark “centers on an engineer who, after the death of his wife, has a vision to construct a ship capable of sustaining life in space. When the build happens to coincide with the coming end of the world, the engineer realizes there may be a larger story at play.”
The story of Noah’s Ark has been adapted for the screen on numerous occasions, most recently with Darren Aronofsky’s Noah, which was released in 2014 and starred Russell Crowe in the lead role.
