NBC has announced that it is set to air The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special, a half-hour animation based upon the 2016 ‘Haunted Elevator’ sketch from Saturday Night Live, which saw Tom Hanks as the titular David S. Pumpkins, a mystery man in a pumpkin suit alongside two dancing skeleton sidekicks, played by Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan.
The special will take place in small suburban town on All Hallows’ Eve, and sees Pumpkins and his skeleton sidekicks showing a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween, answering none of their questions along the way. Tom Hanks appearing on camera at the beginning, as well as lending his voice to the character during the animation. Day, Moynihan and SNL writer Streeter Seidell will also voice characters, as well Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage.
“It’s scary how quickly the original SNL sketch caught on, and we’re thrilled that Tom Hanks is back to keep the fun going,” said George Cheeks, President, Business Operations and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment and Universal Television.
The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special will air on NBC on Saturday, October 28th.
