Neon acquires Sydney Sweeney horror film Immaculate

December 22, 2023 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Neon has snapped up the rights to Immaculate, an upcoming horror film produced by and starring Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney.

Immaculate will see Sweeney playing Cecilia, “a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.”

As per the trade, the film is directed by Michael Mohan from a script by Andrew Lobel, and sees Sweeney starring alongside Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus), Alvaro Morte (Money Heist), Benedetta Porcaroli (Baby), and Dora Romano (The Hand of God).

Sweeney is currently awaiting the release of this week’s R-rated rom-com Anyone But You, where she stars alongside Glen Powell [watch the trailer here]. She also has Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Madame Web incoming in 2024, which will see her take on the role of Spider-Woman, along with the Ron Howard thriller Eden, and is also attached to lead Sony’s reboot of Barbarella.

Immaculate is expected to release in 2024.
