Netflix’s The Punisher adds three cast members

October 6, 2016 by Ricky Church

Originally published October 6, 2016. Updated December 16, 2019.

Production on Netflix’s The Punisher series is now underway, as seen in the set photos featuring a cameo from a Daredevil character, and now Marvel has confirmed three more cast members to the upcoming series. The latest actors to join the cast are Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Amber Rose Revah.

Barnes will play Billy Russo, a Special Forces veteran who now runs a private military corporation called Anvil and happens to be Frank Castle’s best friend from his military days. Moss-Bachrach will be Micro, a former NSA analyst who Frank is searching for. Micro was previously hinted at in the second season finale of Daredevil and Punisher fans will know him as Frank’s sidekick Microchip who handles all of the tech gear in Castle’s crusade. Lastly, Revah will play Dinah Madani, an experienced Homeland Security agent tasked with bringing Castle in.

“I’m really excited about the cast we’re assembling alongside Bernthal as Frank Castle,” said showrunner and Executive Producer Steve Lightfoot. “I look forward to watching Ben, Ebon and Amber embody these characters and breathe vivid life into the story we are crafting for this season of ‘Marvel’s The Punisher.’”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled about the remarkable talent joining Jon Bernthal in ‘Marvel’s The Punisher.’ Ebon, Ben and Amber are incredibly talented actors and we can’t wait to see them bring these characters to life,” added Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television.

Marvel has recently released its latest Netflix show Luke Cage and the next series Iron Fist, starring Game of Thrones‘ Finn Jones as Danny Rand, will be released March 17, 2017. After that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will crossover in the Netflix series The Defenders in Fall 2017. A release date for The Punisher hasn’t been revealed yet, but it is expected to be released in 2017, likely between Iron Fist and Defenders.
