The internet buzzed with the possibility of Scream icon Neve Campbell joining Marvel this week, specifically in an X-Men role, but no one knew just how it would manifest.
All sources had her attached to the role of Polaris, the daughter of Magneto, but with no information on what project. Some had Campbell appearing in the upcoming X-Men movie, while some had the actress pegged for Avengers: Doomsday. But now it seems like her likely home in the MCU will be X-Men ’97.
Creator and executive producer Beau DeMayo took to social media to clarify the rumors. It’s now confirmed that Campbell will play Polaris, but her work will be in the animated series instead of live-action. Check out his post below…
Incorrect. I cast her as Polaris in Season 2 of #xmen97. She does amazing work bringing something new, and felt right to have a 90s icon pick up where Lorna’s story was left in “Cold Comfort.”
She’s got some thoughts on Genosha. https://t.co/WKrSbghWsu

X-Men ’97 Season 1 premiered on Disney+ on March 20th, 2024. It ran for 10 episodes and quickly became a fan favorite. DeMayo served as the showrunner and lead writer for seasons one and two. Due to controversy, the filmmaker exited the project, but season two had been entirely written and was in the midst of production.
