Another day, another Stephen King project…
As revealed by Collider, FX Networks is teaming with MGM Television to develop a limited series adaptation of Stephen King’s classic 1974 novel Carrie.
According to the site, the Carrie TV series is still in the earliest stages of development, but the plan is to put a modern and inclusive spin on the story, with Carrie White likely to be portrayed by either a trans performer of person of colour.
King’s debut novel has been adapted for the screen on several occasions, most notably the 1976 film starring Sissy Spacek and the 2013 feature with Chloe Grace Moretz in the title role. MGM also produced a TV movie for NBC in 2002, which starred Angela Bettis.
King fans have a number of TV projects to look forward to, with The Outsider and The Stand both due to arrive in 2020, and Lisey’s Story and Jerusalem’s Lot series also on the horizon.
