New Twin Peaks series might not be happening after all; David Lynch says there are “complications”

March 16, 2015 by Luke Owen

Bad news for Twin Peaks fans! After the exciting news that Twin Peaks was returning to our screens next year, it now looks like the show might not make a come back after all.

David Lynch spoke about the project during a Q&A session at the opening night of his Between Two Worlds art exhibition. When asked if the new show was definitely happening, Lynch – who has been quiet about the show’s return since it was announced last October – said, “I don’t know. There are complications.”

Co-creator Mark Frost added that it was not a funding issue, but something else.

What complications exactly? Well a source has told fansite Welcome to Twin Peaks that while the scripts for the new series are complete, contract negotiations aren’t going as planned. Kyle MacLachlan, who played Special Agent Dale Cooper, is expected to return, so it’s unlikely to be him. If anything, it seems to be Lynch himself:

“I haven’t returned yet and we’re still working on the contract, but I love the world of Twin Peaks and I love those characters,” he told The Mix, which aired on ABCNews24. “And I think it will be very special to go back into that world.”

With that said, other sources close to Lynch have said that he is just being cryptic with Jose Da Silva, curator of Between Two Worlds, adding that he is confident the show will happen.
