No plans for a live-action Star Wars TV show

January 23, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Ever since Disney purchased Lucasfilm, it’s been assumed that it’s only a matter of time before the Mouse House takes Star Wars to the small screen. However, it’s not going to happen any time soon – at least, not on the Disney-owned ABC.

“They are focused on their movies, so we don’t have any plans at the moment”, suggested Paul Lee, president of the network, with a Lucasfilm source then adding that the current focus is on animation, such as Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels.

The latest Star Wars TV rumour came back in July, when it was claimed that Lucasfilm was working with Netflix on THREE live-action shows. Looks like we can safely chalk that one down to fabrication…

Disney does already have one Star Wars television project in its possession in Star Wars Underworld, the live-action series announced by George Lucas back in 2005, for which Lucasfilm has around 50 scripts completed.
