Octavia Spencer joins Blumhouse’s Ma

February 5, 2018 by Gary Collinson

THR is reporting that Octavia Spencer (The Shape of Water) is set to join Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) and Juliette Lewis (Secrets and Lies) in the cast of the new Blumhouse Productions thriller Ma.

The film will reunite Spencer with The Help director Tate Taylor, who is helming from a script by Scott Landes (Workaholics). The film is slated to begin shooting in Mississippi this coming week, and while plot details are being kept under wraps, it is described as a psychological thriller.

Spencer won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Help, and she also finds herself nominated for the same honour at this year’s 90th Academy Awards for Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water.
