According to actress Olivia Munn, X-Men: Dark Phoenix may be a huge story; too much for one film, in fact. Speaking to Collider about various projects, the topic of X-Men inevitably came up, to which the Psylocke actress replied:
“I don’t know what I’m supposed to say. I’m supposed to be vague. That’s my answer. I’m horrible at that. It’s like a two-parter, this movie. That’s more than I’ve said, in general. I don’t know why people have to be so secretive.”
The prospect of a two-parter for The Dark Phoenix saga is interesting, if a bit overkill. Fans, eager to see new stories told, are already wondering if the tale is worth revisiting after the troubled X-Men: The Last Stand. After all, there are so many possible stories to tell. A two-parter? Well, at least that would provide Simon Kinberg with the elbow room needed to tell a better version of the classic X-Men comic book arc.

UPDATE: According to Universo X-Men, an extra on the film has reportedly confirmed that Dark Phoenix will be a two-parter, and that the cast will be returning to Montreal early in 2018 to shoot the second part for release in 2019. This is of course just rumour at the moment, but if that is the plan, we should probably expect an official announcement soon.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for release on November 2nd, 2018. Simon Kinberg is directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) alongside new additions Jessica Chastain and Lamar Johnson.
