Oprah Winfrey to reunite with Selma director Ava DuVernay on A Wrinkle in Time

July 29, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in February it was announced that Ava DuVernay has signed on to direct A Wrinkle in Time for Disney, and now Variety is reporting that Oprah Winfrey will reunite with her Selma director for the adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s acclaimed 1962 sci-fi fantasy novel.

The film has been scripted by Jennifer Lee (Frozen) and will see Winfrey as Mrs. Which, one of three angelic beings who assist Meg Murray, her younger brother Charles Wallace and their friend Calvin O’Keefe as they search for Meg’s father, a scientist who disappears after experimenting with time travel.

A Wrinkle in Time is the first of L’Engle’s four-book ‘Time Quartet’ series, and was followed by A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet and Many Waters. The rights were picked by by Disney in 2010.
