Oscar Isaac says that Star Wars: Episode IX utilises Leia in a “really beautiful way”

November 21, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Oscar Isaac, one of the stars of next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX, says that the film uses Princess Leia in a “beautiful way”.

There are a lot of questions going into Star Wars: Episode IX, from plot points and which characters will turn up, to just how this new trilogy is going to end. One of the biggest questions, however, regards how the film will use Princess Leia now that Carrie Fisher has passed away.

Leia will be in the film, using unused footage of Carrie Fisher from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but will Episode IX do Fisher justice? Well, according to Oscar Isaac it certainly will. Speaking to The Daily Beast, the actor discussing filming the movie without Fisher on set:

“It’s a strange thing to be on the set and to be speaking of Leia and having Carrie not be around. There’s definitely some pain in that, said Isaac, who then went on to suggestthat Episode IX, “deals with the amazing character that Carrie created in a really beautiful way.”

Fans will certainly be hoping that Isaac is right on that. We will have to wait and see just what the movie has in store when Episode IX arrives in December 2019.
