Outlander season 4 to premiere in November

August 17, 2018 by Ricky Church

Starz has announced the fourth season Outlander will begin this fall. Premiering on Sunday, November 4th (and coming soon to the UK on Prime Video), the season continues the time-travelling adventures of Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and her husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) as they come to 18th century America.

Consisting of 13 episodes, the fourth season will follow Drums of Autumn, fourth book in Dianna Gabaldon’s Outlander series. There are currently eight books in the series with the most recent being 2014’s Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. Gabaldon is currently writing a ninth book in the series, titled Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, though a release date for her latest has not been revealed. Earlier this year, Starz already renewed Outlander for a fifth and sixth season that will follows the fifth and sixth books respectively, though they will be 12 episodes each instead of 13.

Season four of Outlander continues the story of time-traveling 20th-century doctor Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and her 18th century Highlander husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), as they try to make a home for themselves in colonial America. As Claire and Jamie build their lives together in the rough and dangerous backcountry of North Carolina, they must negotiate a tenuous loyalty to the current British ruling class, despite Claire’s knowledge of the American Revolution to come. Along the way, the Frasers cross paths with notorious pirate and smuggler Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) in a fateful meeting that will come back to haunt the Fraser family.

Meanwhile, in the 20th century, things are complicated between Brianna Randall (Sophie Skelton), Claire and Jamie’s daughter, and Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin), the historian who helped Claire search for Jamie in the past. But when Roger and Brianna search for proof that Brianna’s parents reunited in the 18th century, a shocking discovery makes both of them consider following in Claire’s footsteps.
