Paramount announces release dates for G.I. Joe, Micronauts and Dungeons & Dragons

December 19, 2017 by Matt Rodgers

As the year comes to an end, Paramount are already plotting their future by announcing the release dates of four of their upcoming Hasbro blockbusters.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the studio would continue their attempts to gain traction with the G.I. Joe brand by launching another film, simply titled ‘G.I. Joe’ on March 27th 2020. Their previous two attempts to make the Hasbro action figures a viable cinematic property, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) and G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), were met with middling results, both critically and commercially.

Paramount will also roll the dice on another iteration of the Dungeons & Dragons game, with 17 years having passed since the lamentable Jeremy Irons version, July 23rd 2021 will be the date we get to see whether this is the new Warcraft, or a Lord of the Rings style success.

The other two slots were reserved for a Micronauts film on October 16th 2020, and an as yet untitled Hasbro property for October 1st 2021, which leaves us free to speculate. Anyone hoping for Battleships 2: In Deep Ship?
