Patrick Wilson is teasing his Aquaman villain Ocean Master

March 28, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Actor Patrick Wilson has been teasing the arrival of his upcoming Aquaman villain Ocean Master.

A consistent and prevalent problem in the modern day superhero genre – one that exists across the Marvel/DC spectrum- is the lack of interesting and substantive villains.

While all the attention is thrown at the film’s heroes, the antagonists in these movies are often left out in the cold, almost always coming off as a second thought, just an annoying obstacle for our champions to squash.

This has been the subject of much talk in numerous write ups and editorials, but it looks like Patrick Wilson thinks his upcoming Aquaman villain, Ocean Master, will rectify the mistakes of movies past.

Wilson responded on twitter to a Hollywood Reporter piece on the issue with the following tweet.

Not for long. @creepypuppet https://t.co/0C9rJrAVdT

It’s nice to see Wilson getting involved and perhaps into character – at least he is talking a good game.

Will Ocean Master be a new standout for superhero movie villains? Or will he fall into the pack with the rest? We will have to wait and see. Fingers crossed Wilson has something special up his sleeve.

Aquaman is being directed by James Wan (The Conjuring) and stars Jason Momoa as the titular hero, reprising his role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, along with Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Dr. Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry. It is set for release on December 21st 2018.
