Patti LuPone spills details on mysterious Marvel series Agatha: Coven of Chaos

April 22, 2023 by EJ Moreno

The mysterious production Agatha: Coven of Chaos has left Marvel fans hungry for any information. We finally get details in the form of a Patti LuPone interview.

During a recent, LuPone dished on the series, giving fans the first bit of information. The legendary actress says, “It’s a coven of witches, and I play Lilia Calderu, who apparently is in the Marvel world. I researched her. She’s hot; she’s really hot; she’s got a great body and hair.”

LuPone adds that she’s “a 450-year-old Sicilian witch whose power is divination and whose trial is tarot. It’s very interesting. I think it’s going to be fantastic.”

With MCU projects, we usually have very few details, but we got a bit more of the Coven of Chaos plot from LuPone’s interview as she tells The View, “I didn’t know there were witches. I didn’t know anything about the Marvel world. There are witches in the Marvel world. So, we are a coven of witches, and the witches are Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, and the Familiar – if anybody knows Heartstopper – is Joe Locke.”

The most interesting note is that Joe Locke is playing a reported human familiar, as many felt he’d play Wiccan in the series. The reveal could come later in the series, but for now, the note of the Familiar helps flesh out the supernatural world we are dealing with.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos stars Kathryn Hahn returning as the titular Agatha Harkness, Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, and Sasheer Zamata. The supporting cast includes David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, Brian Brightman, Kate Forbes, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to premiere on Disney+ later this year.  The series is being showrun by Jac Schaeffer, serving as head writer and executive producer.
