Paul Feig calls out the omission of his Ghostbusters from Sony’s Ultimate Boxset

December 23, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

It appears that Sony may have crossed their streams with Paul Feig when it comes to the release of their forthcoming Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection boxset, because the director of the divisive 2016 Ghostbusters reboot has taken to Twitter to politely enquire about why his entry into the franchise has been omitted.

In his own inimitably nice way, the Bridesmaid director pointed out that it “must be a mistake”, before adding that original Ghostbusters – Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson – were also in his film, and that his female-led reboot won the Kids Choice Award that year.

Um … @SonyPictures, I know this must be a mistake. We do have a lot of fans and Bill, Dan and Ernie were in it and it won the Kids Choice Award for Best Feature Film the year it came out. So, I guess this was just an oversight? #weareallghostbusters 👻❤️ https://t.co/dI8TwJsG4I

It was all handled in an utterly charming manner by Feig, which is in direct contrast to the way some people treated his version of Ghostbusters upon release. Sony are yet to respond to his Tweet.

Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife is currently playing in cinemas around the world, having so far grossed $174M at the global box-office, The Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection is set to coincide with that film’s home-entertainment release on February 1st.

From writer and director Jason Reitman, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the next chapter in the Ghostbusters universe and follows a single mother and her two children who arrive in a small town and begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman and stars Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame), Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Celeste O’Connor (Wetlands), Oliver Cooper (Mindhunter) and newcomer Logan Kim, along with returning Ghostbusters cast members Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz), Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore), Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett), and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz).
