Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem to star in Escobar

May 7, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

In casting news coming out of Cannes, Deadline is reporting that Javier Bardem (Skyfall) and Penelope Cruz (Zoolander 2) are set to star in upcoming film Escobar.

Based on a true story, Escobar will be directed by Fernando Leon de Aranoa (A Perfect Day) who has also written the script for the film. The story tells of “the unlikely relationship with his polar opposite, the upscale TV host Virginia Vallejo, which she detailed in her book Loving Pablo, Hating Escobar”.

Millenium Films are behind the project and are busy selling the film at Cannes right now, with Bardem and Dean Nichols producing.
