Following its renewal late last year, FX’s superb Alien: Earth has enlisted its first crew member for the second season of Noah Hawley’s sci-fi series, with Game of Thrones alumni Peter Dinklage joining the show.
Per Deadline’s report the Emmy winning actor has signed on as a series regular in the sophomore run of Alien: Earth, joining season one breakout Sydney Chandler, who anchored the prequel story as humanoid robot Wendy.
Filming is set to get underway this year, with the production moving from Thailand to Pinewood Studios, the erstwhile home of the Alien franchise, having housed Aliens (1986), Alien³ (1992), and Prometheus (2012).
Written by Fargo‘s Noah Hawley, and inspired by the Ridley Scott classic, Alien: Earth was set in 2120, two years before the events on the USCSS Nostromo, and told the story of Wendy, a human-synthetic hybrid, who leads a crash investigation in an attempt to protect her brother, all while a corporate war unfolds around her and a deadly xenomorph is on the loose.
Alien: Earth‘s season 1 cast included Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille and Moe Bar-El.
