Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon to make directorial debut with The Pact

November 15, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Variety has reported that Pitch Perfect screenwriter Kay Cannon is set to step behind the camera for the first time on sex comedy The Pact.

Cannon, who has worked as a writer on New Girl and was Emmy-nominated for 30 Rock, has penned the scripts for both of the films in the acapella-themed Pitch Perfect franchise and has signed on to write the third.

The Pact will follow a trio of parents who attempt to stop their respective daughters from fulfilling an American Pie-style “pact” to lose their virginities on prom night.

Comedy producing duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Bad Neighbours) are also attached to the project and Cannon’s husband, Eben Russell (Last Man Standing), is set to rewrite the script.
