Princess Mononoke trailer invites you experience Miyazaki’s epic in IMAX for the first time ever

March 12, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

Studio Ghibli has released the trailer for the 4K restoration of their 1997 animated classic Princess Mononoke, which will be riding onto IMAX screens for the first time ever this March.

Written and directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, the fantasy epic follows the adventures of young boy named Ashitaka, who seeks a cure for his cursed arm, and in doing so becomes embroiled in a war between Gods, Monsters, and the titular Princess.

Narrated by Keith David, the English Language dub of Princess Mononoke features a cast that includes Billy Crudup, Billy Bob Thornton, Minnie Driver, John DiMaggio, Claire Danes, John DeMita , Jada Pinkett Smith and Gillian Anderson. Watch the trailer below…

“In the 14th century, the harmony that humans, animals and gods have enjoyed begins to crumble. The protagonist, young Ashitaka – infected by an animal attack, seeks a cure from the deer-like god Shishigami. In his travels, he sees humans ravaging the earth, bringing down the wrath of wolf god Moro and his human companion Princess Mononoke. Hiskattempts to broker peace between her and the humans brings only conflict.”

Princess Mononoke rides into IMAX cinemas on March 26th.
