The Punisher season 2 casting breakdowns may suggest ‘Suicide Run’ adaptation

March 9, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Last month it was rumoured that Marvel could be looking to incorporate ‘The Slavers’ comic book arc into the second season of The Punisher, and now we have some new casting breakdowns for the Netflix show which suggest an adaptation of another comic book storyline in ‘Suicide Run’.

As we learned last month, Giorgia Whigham (Scream) is set to play Amy Bendix, a character introduced in the ‘Suicide Run’ story arc. In the story, The Punisher collapses a skyscraper filled with New York crime bosses and is presumed dead himself after getting caught in the rubble. As Frank recovers in a small town, where he’s nursed back to health by Amy, the daughter of the local sheriff, a wave of copycat vigilantes take to the streets to fight crime, and each other.

Now, courtesy of That Hashtag Show, we’ve got the following casting breakdowns, which reveal that the show is looking to cast an Ohio sheriff and his deputies:

  • [Sheriff Bonnen] an authoritative male in his early 40s.
  • [Deputy Willis] a female, 33-37, who is a good cop but looks out for #1 above all else.
  • [Deputy Creamer] a 25-28 year old male who is described as optimistic and professional.
  • [Bob] a male in his early 50s who works at the desk at the sheriff office.

If this information is accurate, it could well be that Marvel has decided to mash together elements of ‘The Slavers’ and ‘Suicide Run’ for season two. But, if not, let us know in the comments below which you’d prefer to see…

The second season of The Punisher will see Jon Bernthal returning as Frank Castle alongside Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle, Josh Stewart as John Pilgrim, Floriana Lima as Krista Dumont and Giogia Whigham as Amy Bendix.
