Quentin Tarantino wants Al Pacino for his new movie

January 16, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Following hot on the heels of the news that Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to star in Quentin Tarantino’s new movie, we now have word that the filmmaker is eyeing another Oscar-winning star.

According to Variety, Tarantino is courting Al Pacino for an as-yet-unspecified role in the movie, which is going by the working title of #9. Should Pacino sign on, it would mark the screen legend’s first collaboration with the director.

While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the general outline reads:

“Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, the film focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.”

The as-yet-untitled film is set for release on August 9th, 2019. Other actors who have been linked to the movie include Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lawrence and Samuel L. Jackson.
