Rachel Brosnahan joins Benedict Cumberbatch in Ironbark

October 12, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) has signed on to star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the Cold War drama Ironbark.

The film is being directed by Dominic Cooke (On Chesil Beach) from a script by Tom O’Connor (The Hitman’s Bodyguard) and tells the true story of Greville Wynne (Cumberbatch), a British businessman who helped the CIA penetrate the Soviet nuclear program during the Cold War and provided intelligence that helped resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Brosnahan will play Emily Donovan, the brilliant, determined CIA agent who runs Wynne and his Russian source Oleg Penkovsky’s espionage operation.

The actress will reprise the role of Midge Maisel for the second season of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, while the streaming service has already renewed the Emmy-winning comedy for a third season.
