Reed Morano plays down speculation that she might direct a Star Wars movie

January 26, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week The Handmaid’s Tale director Reed Morano revealed that she’d been taking meetings with Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy, which as you’d expect immediately sparked speculation that she could be under consideration to take the reins of a Star Wars movie.

Well, speaking to Kevin Smith during an interview on IMDb (via Comic Book), Morano has attempted to play down the talk, stating that: “I think it was just a speculation of some kind. I was lucky enough to have a meeting with Kathy Kennedy, who is the loveliest human being.”

Asked outright by fellow guest Peter Dinklage is she’s directing a Star Wars movie, Morano replied: “No, I’m not… will you stop adding fuel to the rumors? It was just a meeting, and that’s all I can say. And she was awesome and imparted a lot of her wisdom. She’s like, an idol.”

Now, it is possible that this meeting had nothing to do with Star Wars, but given that Lucasfilm is now pushing full steam ahead with planning the next decade of Star Wars movies… well…
