Reese Witherspoon to star in sci-fi drama Pale Blue Dot

May 14, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Variety is reporting that Reese Witherspoon (Wild) has lined-up her next project in Pale Blue Dot, a new sci-fi drama from Fox Searchlight.

Based on a script by writers Brian C Brown and Elliott DiGuiseppi, Pale Blue Dot tells the story of a female astronaut whose life begins to unravel after she returns to Earth after a long space mission.

Witherspoon will also produce the film with partner Bruna Papandrea and their Pacific Standard production company. No news on a director or release date have been announced as of yet.

Witherspoon can currently be seen in U.S. cinemas in action-comedy Hot Pursuit, opposite Sofia Vergara. The film opens in the UK on July 31st.
