David Twohy, the man behind the Chronicles of Riddick franchise, has signed on to write and direct the sci-fi Ice Moon Rising, Variety is reporting.
The joint US-Chinese production “is set in space when a Chinese and American task force venture to Jupiter’s moon Europa to awaken an astronaut from a cryogenic stasis, some 24 years after he was attacked by alien creatures in Europa’s sub-glacial seas. Awake, he then has to be reunited with his wife and a daughter he has never met.”
The project is being produced by Sriram Das and Steve Chicorel, who also have the air-to-air heist movie Money Plane set up as a Chinese co-production, with David Hackl (Saw V) attached to direct.
