It looks like Ridley Scott wasn’t kidding when he said that the Alien franchise is going to have at least four more installments, and it seems that the first sequel to the new sci-fi/ horror Alien: Covenant is going into production sooner than you may think. Very soon, in fact.
Speaking to IGN UK, the director revealed that things are moving along swiftly:” We’re writing [a sequel] now, as we speak. I’ll be filming that within 14 months.”
Reactions, so far, to the new Alien film have ranged from extremely positive to utter disappointment. Alien Covenant is currently sitting at a ‘75% Fresh’ rating’ on aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, and a slightly lower 65% on Metacritic.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant is set for release on May 12th in the UK and May 19th in the States. Prometheus stars Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce return alongside new cast additions Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Demian Bichir (A Better Life), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Benjamin Rigby (That’s Not Me), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), Tess Haubrich (The Wolverine) and James Franco (Why Him?).
