Riz Ahmed could be the next James Bond in first look at Prime Video comedy Bait

January 20, 2026 by Gary Collinson

We’re still waiting for Amazon to cast its next 007 after acquiring the creative rights to the James Bond franchise last year, but the streamer is putting the IP to use with the upcoming comedy series Bait, which has just received a first-look clip and images ahead of its premiere in March.

The series stars Riz Ahmed as Shah Latif, a struggling actor who finds one last chance at hitting the big time when he lands the audition of a lifetime to succeed Daniel Craig in the role of super spy James Bond, only for his life to spiral out of control when word of his potential casting leaks and his family, friends and the entire world weigh in on whether he’s the right man for the job.

Featuring alongside Riz Ahmed – who also executive produces and serves as co-showrunner alongside Ben Karlin – in the cast of Bait are Guz Khan, Sheeba Chaddha, Sajid Hasan, Aasiya Shah, Weruche Opia and Ritu Arya.

Bait will drop all six episodes on March 25th 2026.
