Ronda Rousey to star in film version of her autobiography

August 3, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Variety is reporting that Paramount Pictures has bought the rights to UFC fighter Ronda Rousey’s autobiography, with Rousey set to star as herself in the big screen adaptation.

The fighter-turned-actress will star in the adaptation of her book My Fight/Your Fight, with writer Mark Bomback (The Wolverine) hired to pen the script. Written by Rousey and her sister Maria Burns Ortiz, the book celebrates Rousey’s accomplishments on her path to UFC glory.

“It’s a real honor to be a part of bringing Ronda’s incredible story to the big screen,” said Mary Parent, producer of the film.

It’s somewhat of a strange move to have the real-life person portray themselves in a biopic, but Rousey has steadily been making an impact on Hollywood, with appearances in The Expendables 3 and Fast & Furious 7 in the last year, as well as featuring in Mile 22, the new film from Peter Berg (Lone Survivor).

No dates have been set for the film’s production, but Bomback is said to be already working on the script.
