Rosamund Pike set to play Marie Curie in Radioactive

May 16, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Actress Rosamund Pike is attached to star in new drama Radioactive as Marie Curie.

A Working Title production, Radioactive is being billed as a romantic drama, and is to be directed by Frenchwoman Marjane Satrapi.

Being financed in its entirety by StudioCanal, Radioactive is being adapted from Lauren Redniss’ biography of Marie and Pierre Curie entiled, Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie: A Tale of Love and Fallout.

The film is to be written by Jack Thorne who wrote the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

According to StudioCanal chairman-CEO, Didier Lupfer, “This is not a biopic, but a love story, set at a tremendous time of change, capturing a woman who is amazing, brilliant and quite charming, and the only woman of the time capable of being accepted by the scientific establishment,”

Marjane Satrapi has said, “Marie Curie was such a natural force of life. Everybody, everywhere she went was effected by her energy and brilliance. This is an intense role which requires a lot of intelligence and sensibility. Rosamund is ‘the one’ to play her. I understood it the second I met her.”

The role of Pierre is yet to be cast.
