Ruby Rose joins Jason Statham in prehistoric shark thriller Meg

August 6, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose has signed on to appear alongside Jason Statham in Warner Bros.’ upcoming adaptation of Steve Alten’s 1997 book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, Variety is reporting.

The film – which revolves around the efforts to track and kill an ancient Megalodon species of shark – is being directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure), and also has Jessica McNamee (The Vow) and Fan Bingbing (X-Men: Days of Future Past) attached to star.

Meg “is centered on an international underwater observation program, led by Chinese scientists, which comes under attack by an unknown danger. With its deep-sea submersible disabled and trapped at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, they need rescue. Statham will portray a former naval captain and expert deep-sea diver, who’s recruited for a likely suicide mission — even though he faced the predator years before and was forced him to abort his mission and abandon half his crew.”

Meg is set for release on March 2nd, 2018.
