Rumour: Harley Quinn could be ditching her tattoos for Birds of Prey

December 9, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

If rumours are to be believed, Margot Robbie’s Dr. Harleen Quinzel will be undergoing some laser tattoo removal ahead of her second DCEU appearance in 2020’s Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

According to a report from Revenge of the Fans, new DC chief Walter Hamada isn’t too concerned about keeping strict continuity with the earlier DC movies and has adopted a motto of “keep what you liked from the older DCEU films and discard what you didn’t like”.

As such, it’s said that several mockups of Robbie’s Harley Quinn are currently doing the rounds in the Warner Bros. and DC Films offices, showing the character with a brand new look sans the controversial tattoos she sported in 2016’s Suicide Squad.

Filming on Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is expected to get underway in a few weeks, so presumably we’ll catch a glimpse of Robbie’s Birds of Prey Harley Quinn in the near future, be it through set photos or publicity images.

In the meantime, let us know in the comments below if you’re hoping this rumour is true, or you’d rather Harley’s look remained consistent with her first appearance in Suicide Squad…

Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) is directing Birds of Prey from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) with Margot Robbie reprising her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo) as The Huntress, Jurnee Smolett-Bell (Underground) as Black Canary, Rosie Perez (Fearless) as Renee Montoya, Elle Jay Basco (Grey’s Anatomy) as Cassandra Cain and Ewan McGregor (Christopher Robin) as Black Mask. It is set for release on February 7th 2020.
