Rumour: Joe Cornish and Shane Black in contention for Gambit movie

October 22, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week it was reported that 20th Century Fox is eyeing Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) to replace the departed Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) as director on the upcoming X-Men spinoff Gambit, and now Heroic Hollywood has thrown another couple of contenders into the hat.

According to the site, both Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) and Shane Black (Iron Man 3) are in the frame, although as with anything Heroic Hollywood, the report should be taken with a healthy pinch of salt.

Who would you like to see taking on the reins on Gambit? Let us know in the comments below…

Gambit is currently scheduled for release on October 7th 2016 (a date that’s looking increasingly unlikely unless Fox gets a move on), with Channing Tatum (Foxcatcher) set to play the Cajun mutant alongside Lea Seydoux (Spectre) as Bella Donna Boudreaux.
