Rumour: Joel Edgerton wanted for Kano in Mortal Kombat movie

March 10, 2019 by Gary Collinson

With screenwriter Greg Russo revealing last week that the long-gestating movie reboot of Mortal Kombat is now ready to go if and when it receives the green light from Warner Bros., That Hashtag Show is reporting that Joel Edgerton (It Comes at Night, Red Sparrow) is wanted for a role in the film.

According to the site, Egderton is being eyed for the role of Kano, one of the video game series’ original characters, who appeared in the very first game back in 1992. A mercenary, criminal, and international fugitive, Kano is pursued to the Mortal Kombat tournament by Special Forces officer and nemesis Sonya Blade, Kano later becomes a general of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn’s forces.
