Rumour: Wonder Woman movie to take place across three time periods

October 9, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Way back in October of last year, a rumour surfaced suggesting that 2017’s Wonder Woman movie would take place in the 1920s, with an as-yet-unconfirmed sequel then bringing the action forward to present day.

Given that Wonder Woman is appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the two-part Justice League, it seemed a little odd that Warner Bros. would choose to release a period tale in between those two present-day movies. Now Den of Geek is reporting that while some of the film will indeed take place in the past, it will actually incorporate three different time periods:

The first setting will be Themyscira, the idyllic island Wonder Woman has called home since her adventures began in the 1940s. The second period is World War I – the specific year we’ve been given is 1916, which places it right in the middle of that conflict. The movie will then move to the modern day, where it will tie into the events of Justice League Part One, out at the end of 2017 and also set to star Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Chalk this one up as a rumour, but one that makes much more sense…

Wonder Woman is being directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster) and will see Gal Gadot reprising her role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as the Amazon Princess alongside Chris Pine as Steve Trevor.
