The truth is still out there and coming back. Not only has Hulu officially given a pilot order to Sinners director Ryan Coogler’s reboot of The X-Files, but Danielle Deadwyler (From Scratch) has been cast as one of the leads in the upcoming series.

The X-Files premiered in 1993 and ran for 9 seasons with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson starring as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. The two investigated paranormal and extraterrestrial cases while uncovering a deep global conspiracy hiding the existence of aliens on Earth. The series included two feature films and later came back for10th and 11th event seasons in 2016 and 2018 respectively with the two stars reprising their iconic roles.
Much like the original series, the reboot will see “two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”
The X-Files reboot will be showrun by Jennifer Yale (The Copenhagen Test) with Coogler writing and directing the pilot. Yale and Coogler will executive produce the series with X-Files creator Chris Carter alongside Proximity Media’s Sev Ohanian, Zinzi Coogler and Simone Harris. Hulu, 20th Television and Onyx Collective will overall produce the project.
As of now, there is no word if the reboot will be a continuation of the original with a new cast or a wholly fresh reboot, but Coogler revealed a few months ago he spoke with Anderson about the reboot though it is unknown if it was about potentially returning in some capacity as Scully.
