Sam Mendes confirms that he’s finished with the James Bond franchise

May 29, 2016 by Gary Collinson

While Daniel Craig’s future as 007 remains unclear – with rumours suggesting that Tom Hiddleston and Jamie Bell have been having talks about taking on the role of the super spy – director Sam Mendes has officially confirmed that he won’t be returning to the franchise.

“It was an incredible adventure, I loved every second of it, but I think it’s time for somebody else,” said the Oscar-winning filmmaker at the Hay Festival in Wales yesterday. “I’m a storyteller, and at the end of the day, I want to make stories with new characters.”

With Skyfall and Spectre, Mendes has directed the two most financially successful instalments of the long-running franchise.

Are you disappointed that Mendes won’t be back for Bond 25? Who would you like to see directing the next instalment? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
