Sarah Paulson, Jacki Weaver, Trevante Rhodes and more join sci-fi Bird Box

October 16, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story), Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Danielle MacDonald (Patti Cake$) and Lil Rel Howery (Get Out) have signed on to the cast of the sci-fi film Bird Box, which already has Sandra Bullock and John Malkovich attached.

The film is being directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Susanne Bier (In a Better World) from a script by Eric Heisserer (Arrival), and is based on Josh Malerman’s 2014 novel. It sees Bullock as a mother who along with her two children are part of a small group of survivors after an alien force has driven the world’s population to deadly violence. Together, the three must make their way on a terrifying journey — 20 miles in a rowboat — while blindfolded, with nothing to rely on but the mother’s wits and the children’s trained ears.

Bird Box is being produced by Scott Stuber (Ted, Patriots Day) for streaming service Netflix.
