Scarlett Johansson to star in Disney’s Tower of Terror movie

June 26, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Collider is reporting that Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson is set to star in Tower of Terror, a new Disney movie based upon its classic theme park ride, as well as producing the film through her These Pictures production banner.

Plot details for Tower of Terror are being kept tightly under wraps, but the script for the movie is being written by Toy Story 4 director and Inside Out screenwriter Josh Cooley. As yet, there’s no word on a director for the film, not a potential production or release window.

Inspired by Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone, the Tower of Terror ride takes visitors on a journey from the elevator shaft of the Hollywood Tower Hotel into the Fifth Dimension, culminating with a 130 ft tower drop. It previously inspired a 1997 TV movie, which saw Steven Guttenberg starring alongside Kirsten Dunst.

Before we get to Tower of Terror, Disney is bringing another of its theme park attractions to life with the Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt-led Jungle Cruise, which sets sails on July 30th in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access.
