Scary Movie screenwriters shooting Star Wars spoof for release this year

February 8, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Given the enormous popularity of the franchise following the blockbuster success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it was only a matter of time before we got this one…

Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, co-writers of the Scary Movie franchise, are working on a spoof of the Star Wars franchise, with the “hilarious” title Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue.

“Jason and Aaron are a powerhouse duo who have proven time and time again that they are fully tapped into the what audiences love,” said Paul Hanson of Covert Media. “Their fearless take on pop culture has us beyond thrilled to tackle the world’s most popular franchise with the two of them leading us into a galaxy far, far away.”

In addition to the Scary Movie films, Freidberg and Seltzer’s other credits include the likes of Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie, The Starving Games and Superfast!.

Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue is already shooting and is planned for release in the fall, just in time to capitalise on the excitement for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
