With Ghostface currently adding to his or her thirty year body count in cinemas around the world, Paramount and Spyglass are wasting no time moving forward with another installment in the billion dollar grossing franchise, announcing Lilla and Nora Zuckerman as the writers for Scream 8.

According to Deadline the Zuckerman sisters have been tasked with continuing the further adventures of Ghostface. The duo recently finished their tenure as showrunners on Rian Johnson’s critically acclaimed Peacock series Poker Face, and have previously worked as writers on Fringe, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Suits. They were also responsible for the pilot episode of the Buffy revival series Buffy: New Sunnydale, which was directed by Hamnet‘s Chloe Zhao, but sadly 20th Television and Searchlight Television decided not to move forward with the project.
The news comes as the Kevin Williamson-directed seventh installment crossed the $200 million mark at the worldwide box-office, the first time a Scream movie has hit that milestone in its decades long history. The film, which saw the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, might not have been a hit with the critics (read our review ★★ here), but audiences apparently can’t get enough of the iconic slasher.
