Filmmaker Ali Abbasi is tackling the early life of Donald Trump in a new film starring some A-list talent.
Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong, and Maria Bakalova are all set to star in the project titled The Apprentice, which is set in the ’70s and ’80s and following the Trump real estate world.
The show is described as an “exploration of power and ambition, set in a world of corruption and deceit.” Gabriel Sherman (The Loudest Voice in the Room) will pen the script with producers, including Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films, Jacob Jarek of Profile Pictures, and Ruth Treacy of Taylored Films.
Per Deadline, “The Apprentice will examine Trump’s efforts to build his real estate business in New York in the ’70s and ’80s, also digging into his relationship with infamous attorney Roy Cohn. It’s a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of a major American dynasty. Filled with larger-than-life characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.”
Stan will play the young Trump, Jeremy Strong will play Cohn, with Bakalova as Trump’s first wife, Ivana. Production on The Apprentice began this past week.
