With a second season of its live-action prequel series in the can, Peacock has announced that it is expanding the world of Seth MacFarlane’s Ted with a new animated sequel series that will see the return of MacFarlane and his feature film co-stars Mark Wahlberg (John), Amanda Seyfried (Sam) and Jessica Barth (Tami-Lynn).
The animated series – going by the creative working title of Ted: The Animated Series – will pick up after the two Ted films, with MacFarlane, Seyfried and Barth set to be joined in the voice cast by new series regulars Kyle Mooney and Liz Richman.
As well as lending his voice to Ted, MacFarlane will write and executive produce the animated series with showrunners Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh (Modern Family), who also executive produce the live-action prequel.
The two Ted movies grossed $765 million worldwide upon release in 2012 and 2015, while the prequel series launched in January 2024 and broke records as Peacock’s most-watched original title to date, having been the #1 Original Streaming Comedy in the U.S. for more than two months following its premiere. The second season wrapped production in January of this year and is currently in post-production.
