Shane Meadows hints at a final This Is England feature film

May 11, 2016 by Gary Collinson

It looks like the BAFTA-winning This Is England ’90 may not be the final chapter of Shane Meadows’ acclaimed This Is England saga after all, as the filmmaker has revealed to The Sun that he has plans to reunite the gang for one final feature special.

“There is one This Is England left,” said Meadows. “I’ve got one last idea for This Is England but as a film that can be split as a hybrid. Because it started in cinemas and ended up on TV, I would love to finish off with one feature-length episode people can watch in the cinema or on TV the same night. I know the desire is there from me and I’m pretty sure the cast, all of us, don’t see this as a job, we see this as a summer holiday. It’s tricky getting everyone together but I’m sure we can.”

Released in 2006, This Is England spawned three follow-up miniseries on Channel 4: This Is England ’86, This Is England ’88 and last year’s This Is England ’90, which Meadows had previously said would be the final instalment of the series.
